Is riding a motorcycle an inherently dangerous activity?
This one is for my students, given what we have been talking about in class the past couple of days....Is riding a motorcycle an inherently dangerous activity? Is it an "adult activity"?
Check out this video of a 3 year old:
... and this one:
If you go on YouTube and search for "kids on motorcycles" you will find lots of videos like these, including some of actual motocross competitions for very young kids. Some of the motorcycles do have "training wheels" but not all do.

It is an inherently dangerous activity. The reasoning behind this is that defying laws of gravity is challenging for both adults and children. Experience will make both children and adults better able to balance themselves. However, all they are doing is better learning to manage the risk of falling over. Raj
Every single moment of one's existence on Earth, one finds him or herself "defying" gravity. Lifting your foot up while moving defies gravity. The bike is not inherently dangerous, but being a child on a motorcycle may lead to a better chance of danger.
